From ore to doré bar

OCIM operates two gold processing plants in southern Peru, Victoria and Yacari, through its subsidiary Soleil Metals. These facilities process ore purchased from artisanal and small-scale miners into doré bars, which are then sold to LBMA Good Delivery refiners across Europe.

1- Reception and assessment

Ore arrives from fully licensed and compliant mining partners, ensuring responsible and traceable supply. It is weighed, recorded and sampled. Each load is documented and tied to the miner’s compliance file. Grade, recovery rate and moisture content are assessed in the metallurgical laboratory before processing begins.

2- Processing

Ore is crushed, ground and fed into a cyanide leaching circuit where gold is dissolved and adsorbed onto activated carbon. The process runs continuously across all 30 days of the month, supported by multiple ore purchasing points ensuring uninterrupted supply.

3- Gold recovery

Loaded carbon undergoes elution and electrowinning, transforming dissolved gold into metallic form. The cyanide solution remaining after gold adsorption, known as barren solution, is recovered, re-oxygenated and reintroduced into the leaching circuit for continued use. This closed-loop approach significantly reduces fresh cyanide consumption and minimises effluent volumes requiring final treatment.

4- Smelting and doré casting

Recovered gold is smelted with specialized fluxes and cast into doré bars. Each bar is weighed, stamped and certified before secure  export and transport to LBMA Good Delivery refiners across Europe.
