OCIM announces the renaming of its gold processing plants

The OCIM Group, a major player in the Peruvian gold sector since the acquisition of the two processing plants Chala One and Kori One last April, followed by the restart of their production three months later, is proud to announce the renaming of these two units to Victoria and Yacari, respectively. This change symbolizes an important milestone in the group’s history, reflecting its values, commitments, and territorial roots.

Victoria
A symbol of success and resilience

The name Victoria was chosen to celebrate the positive outcome of the lengthy legal proceedings undertaken to acquire these production units. This name embodies the spirit of excellence, effort, and perseverance that characterizes the organization.

Beyond this symbolic dimension, Victoria resonates deeply in the Peruvian national context. It is also the name of the anthem of the Peruvian Armed Forces, a symbol of the country’s victory over terrorism. This parallel reinforces the values of strength, resilience, and determination that drive OCIM. In keeping with Peruvian mining tradition, which often gives female names to gold sources or production plants, Victoria is ultimately a tribute to both the local culture and the spirit of achievement that guides the group.

Yacari
An identity rooted in the territory

The name Yacari is a combination of the names of the districts of Yauca and Acari, located in southern Peru, where the plant is located. This choice reflects OCIM’s territorial integration and close ties with local communities. Yacari thus symbolizes balance, identity, and a sense of belonging, reaffirming the group’s commitment to sustainable development that respects the regions where it operates.
