Integrated chain

The OCIM model combines an industrial process with a compliance pathway.

Two parallel frames.

OCIM covers the entire production chain for artisanal and small-scale gold, from partner miners to institutional markets. The group sources, processes, markets and delivers  responsibly mined and processed, gold with a fully traceable supply chain.

OCIM operates in Peru through its subsidiary Soleil Metals, which manages two processing plants in the Arequipa region and liaises with mining partners. The OCIM Metals & Mining designs and monitors the compliance process through which these mining operators are approved, in accordance with Swiss anti-money laundering legislation.

Our aim: to reconcile the expectations of all stakeholders in the value chain.

A truly responsible gold market can only be built from within, by stakeholders at every stage of the supply chain who can transform it through an ambitious framework of compliance and traceability. This is the path chosen by the OCIM.

The compliance gap between artisanal and small-scale mining and institutional buyers cannot be closed with mere declarations of intent. It is bridged by  applying new sector-specific standards consistently and by instilling trust through external validation and total transparency.

This is how a responsible gold value chain proves its viability, grows and endures.

Four Pillars

This model is based on four structural pillars, each of which relates to a specific aspect of the chain.

01

Vertical integration

Each link in the chain is managed by a group entity, as part of a single, centralised compliance framework based in Geneva.

02

Compliance with banking standards

This includes rigorous KYC processes, ongoing monitoring, and xTrace traceability: all of which ensure that ASM's sourcing meets strict standards.

03

Long-term business relationships

The business relationship is formalised through an action plan drawn up for each supplier, covering technical support, safety, environmental practices and gradual alignment with SBG criteria.

04

Swiss regulatory framework

OCIM Metals & Mining SA is subject to Swiss anti-money laundering legislation and ensures consolidated risk management across all entities, in accordance with Article 6 of the FINMA Ordinance.

What this model offers.

Three audiences, three promises. One chain.

To buyers

Documented gold from a counterparty that has completed the necessary compliance procedures.

Every ounce traceable from the mining title. Reputational and legal risk is eliminated at source. The provenance becomes a commercial argument, rather than something to be concealed.

To ASM's partners

A fair commercial framework and dedicated operational support.

Transparent pricing, is linked to LBMA rates and verified by an independent third party. Active support with compliance, training and technical assistance. A warm welcome.

To other stakeholders

A counterpart designed for dealings with institutional stakeholders: banks, regulatory authorities, certification bodies and ecosystem partners

A compliance policy that adheres to banking, regulatory and certification standards. A member of the LBMA, certified to ‘Swiss Better Gold Step 1, and a partner of the World Gold Council.

Go deeper.

These three areas define the framework, doctrine and legal architecture that underpin the OCIM model.

Compliance.

The framework in detail: upfront KYC, ongoing monitoring, xTrace physical traceability and the Swiss regulatory foundation that consolidates the whole system in Geneva.

Impact.

Overall results on the ground from the integrated supply chain. Active partners, progress towards formalisation, the amount of mercury removed from the process, key stages in the certification process.

Responsible Gold.

The doctrinal definition. Three levels of requirement, a system of evidence, an enforceable standard. The conceptual basis of the model.
