Oscar Pezo
Head of Compliance
Oscar has more than 20 years of experience in the mining sector and the Peruvian capital markets. His professional career has focused on business development in the mining and financial sectors, while also fulfilling his compliance responsibilities. His contributions within the OCIM Group companies were instrumental in obtaining Swiss Better Gold and planetGOLD certifications, while also helping to evaluate business opportunities in the mining sector.
Since 2012, he has served as a director of the small Canadian mining company Peruvian Metals Corp (TSX-V: PER), where he has helped draft agreements to attract strategic investors to its exploration projects, thereby securing agreements with various mining companies and investment funds. He also oversaw the commissioning of the Aguila Norte processing plant, which provides processing services to artisanal miners for the production of concentrates.
In the financial sector, in addition to his experience in banking, he served as CEO of DIVISO Grupo Financiero and DIVISO Bolsa SAB until 2012, where he managed investments focused on the mining sector.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) and a degree in industrial engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).
He also has extensive teaching experience, gained over more than 10 years in graduate programs focused on the mining sector. He currently teaches in the Master’s in Mining Management program at GERENS Graduate School, as well as in various specialization programs offered by GERENS and FRI ESAN, in courses dedicated to mining finance, mineral marketing, and the valuation of mining assets.
Recognizing Peru’s potential for responsible gold supply through small-scale and artisanal mining, he hopes to contribute, through OCIM, to the mining standardization process in Peru and to the establishment of sustainable development in the various production areas.
