Head of Sustainability


Based in Lima, Peru, Sonia is in charge of sustainability, ESG, and human rights matters at Soleil Metals. She works under the direction of CEO Ivan Salas, in close collaboration with Oscar Pezo, Compliance Director at Soleil Metals, and in coordination with the executive leadership of the OCIM group.

Based in Lima, Sonia leads the sustainability function at Soleil Metals, covering ESG legal advisory, environmental and social standards, labor and human rights, permits and licenses, administrative litigation, and the development and implementation of integrated environmental and sustainability management systems. She acts as Soleil Metals’ liaison with governmental and regulatory authorities on ESG matters and ensures continuous alignment between field operations and the principles governing the OCIM group’s integrated and responsible value chain.

Previously, she held senior corporate responsibility positions at Gran Tierra Energy and Petrolífera Petroleum del Perú, and served as an advisor to Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines, as well as Commissioner in the Native Communities Program of the Ombudsman’s Office.
