Sonia Lou
Head of Sustainability
Based in Lima, Sonia is a lawyer with over 15 years of experience in environmental management, human rights and risk management in Peru’s extractive sector.
She leads sustainability and ESG at Soleil Metals, covering environmental and social performance, occupational health and safety, and permitting. Together with the Sustainability Committee, she defines the scope and leads the preparation of sustainability reports. She works across the gold value chain with operations, commercial and compliance teams to ensure that traceability and due diligence are supported by sound practices and effective risk management.
Previously, she held senior corporate responsibility positions at Gran Tierra Energy and Petrolífera Petroleum del Perú, and served as an advisor to Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines, as well as Commissioner in the Native Communities Program of the Ombudsman’s Office.
